All about me!
Hi readers! My name is Megan Gurtner a recent graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Theater and nonprofit studies. I am not an Ohio Native as I decided to move to this small town of Kent, OH four years ago from Pittsburgh, PA. As a born and raised yinzer, I knew I wanted to branch out and leave Pittsburgh for college. I never guessed that Ohio would be a place I call home for 4 years of my young adult life. Ever since I was a young girl I knew I wanted to be on a stage in front of people performing because it always felt like home. So I started playing violin in 3rd grade, joined the chorus in 6th grade, started musicals and plays in 9th grade, and then got a degree in theater in 16th grade. I knew I had to take every creative opportunity that came my way because one day it would come in handy when I was in the real world.
Enough about the real world… Let’s talk about the fun facts!
My friends and family are the centers of my life
My favorite flower is a daisy
My favorite color is blue (specifically periwinkle)

I could survive off of Diet Coke, coffee, and water as my drink. (That means I have an emotional support water bottle)

I am a self-taught ukulele player and songwriter

Why start a blog?
Never in a million years would I consider myself a “good writer” by any means. Back in April, I went to a Chi Omega leadership conference and met a woman named Maggie DeCan. She is an alumna of Chi Omega who showed me how to love my post-grad life by experiencing everything! Her blog is the reason that I finally decided to take the jump and start something new. Ever since I was younger I always wanted to be involved with just about anything I was interested in. This meant that I have been busy for the past 8+ years of my life with extracurriculars and classes. As I said earlier, I am a big fan of planning schedules to make sure that I am fully in control of my life. Throughout college, my main priority was balancing my crazy class schedule, shows, sorority life, and friendships. There is absolutely no way that I could keep track of all of that without multiple planners perfectly color-coded. Let’s just say it’s a great thing that I’m an extrovert who doesn’t have a social battery. In my last semester of college, I kept myself very busy as a way to distract myself and fill out my resume. I spent my last semester directing/producing a show, finishing an internship, taking 17 credit hours, and keeping up with my sorority life. Now I am not saying all of this just to brag about my time management skills. Writing a blog is a way for me to connect with people who share a similar mindset and also feel lost going through this big change. I hope that by sharing my opinions on topics that no one talks about you all will be able to relate and feel the validation we all need.
Topics, opinions, etc.
If you know me personally, you would know that I am a certified yapper meaning that I don’t know how to shut up. Of course, I have a plan for what I want to talk about on this blog…it’s all written down in my planner. My goal is to post 1-2 times a week depending on what topics I have that week. As a 21-year-old woman who was raised by very loving parents and powerful women I am very opinionated. This blog is my way of sharing my opinions on the stereotypes, clichés, and anything else I can think of that’s important to me. That being said my opinions are never fact just something that I have been thinking about and want to write. This girl watches a whole lot of “Sex and the City” so I am going to use this as my own personal Carrie Bradshaw moment. A lot of what this blog will be is just me yapping about my life post-graduation and the change that no one talks about. I am always open to exploring new topics so if there is something you want to read from me and hear me yap about please let me know!

This could not be more you-coded. But so proud of you! <3
So proud of you! Excited to watch you on this journey!! 🤍
